The spread of the coronavirus has left the US with a backlog of 1,400 new cases and another 815 cases, the CDC said Tuesday.
The number of confirmed cases in the United States has risen to 6,938, compared with 6,717 cases reported in March, the agency said.
It also noted that 3,922 cases have been reported in Mexico.
The CDC added that there were 1,722 new cases reported from Monday through Thursday, with 7,084 new cases in Friday alone.
The numbers are an important indicator of how well the US is fighting the spread of COVID-19, a virus that has claimed over 4,300 lives.
The new figures are just the latest to show that the coronivirus is spreading across the US, as it has for several months.
Earlier this month, the government of Mexico reported that 3.2 million people had been vaccinated in the country.
On Monday, the National Health Council said the number of people with COVID infections had grown to 9.1 million.
In a statement, the White House said the numbers were “still far from complete and not reflective of all the infections that have been in the US.”
The president also noted the US health system has made significant progress in treating the new coronaviruses and the US has not seen a new coronatirus in more than 20 years.
